Intellectual Property Policy

Last updated October 6, 2026

This policy explains who owns the content and research outputs associated with 4xlabs, how third-party intellectual property is treated, and how to report or request permission regarding intellectual property matters.

1. Ownership of site content

All content on this website — including text, graphics, logos, images, designs, page layout, code, and the selection and arrangement of content — is owned by [Legal entity name] or its licensors and is protected by U.S. and international copyright, trademark, and other laws. Unless expressly permitted by our Terms of Use or with our prior written consent, content may not be copied, redistributed, or used commercially.

2. Trademarks

4xlabs, our logos, and related marks are trademarks or service marks of [Legal entity name]. You may not use our marks, names, or trade dress — including in domain names, metatags, or advertising keywords — without our prior written permission. Fair, nominative references to identify us are permitted where they are accurate and not misleading.

3. Third-party content & attribution

The Site may include material owned by third parties, such as licensed images, datasets, or quoted publications. Such content remains the property of its owners and is used under license, fair use, or with attribution. Attributions and credits must not be removed from content we publish.

4. Research outputs & collaborations

Ownership of inventions, data, and other research outputs arising from 4xlabs programs is governed by the applicable collaboration, sponsorship, or materials agreements. In the absence of a signed agreement:

  • Inventions made by 4xlabs personnel belong to 4xlabs, subject to statutory inventorship rights.
  • Inventions made by a collaborator's personnel belong to the collaborator, subject to the same principle.
  • Jointly made inventions are owned jointly, with each party free to use them for non-commercial research.
  • 4xlabs supports publication and open science; disclosure of results is coordinated to protect patent rights and partner confidentiality, and public release of unpublished data requires the program lead's approval.
  • No transfer of ownership of either party's pre-existing intellectual property occurs merely by using this site or exchanging information informally.

5. Submissions by visitors & applicants

You retain ownership of what you submit to us through the Site (such as job applications and inquiries). By submitting, you grant us the limited license described in our Terms of Use. Do not submit invention disclosures or confidential research concepts through general site channels; contact us to arrange a protected disclosure under a written agreement.

6. Copyright complaints (DMCA)

We respect the intellectual property rights of others and respond to notices of alleged infringement under the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (“DMCA”). If you believe content on this Site infringes your copyright, send a written notice to our designated agent containing:

  • your physical or electronic signature;
  • identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed;
  • identification of the material on the Site claimed to be infringing, with a URL;
  • your name, address, telephone number, and email address;
  • a statement of your good-faith belief that the use is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law; and
  • a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf.

7. Counter-notices & repeat infringement

If material is removed in response to a notice, the affected party may submit a counter-notice under the DMCA, which we will forward to the complainant. If the complainant does not file a court action within 10 business days, we may restore the material. We reserve the right to terminate access for users who are repeat infringers.

Notices should be sent to our designated agent: [legal@4xlabs.com] or [Mailing address], Attn: DMCA Agent.

8. Trademark & other IP complaints

Reports of trademark infringement, misuse of our marks, or misuse of third-party IP on the Site (other than copyright) may be sent to [legal@4xlabs.com] with the same supporting detail expected of a good-faith notice. We investigate all good-faith reports promptly.

9. Permission & licensing requests

Requests to reproduce, republish, or license Site content, use our marks, or license research materials or datasets may be directed to [legal@4xlabs.com], Attn: IP Licensing. Include a description of the content, the intended use, audience, and duration.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above reflects the current version.
